contemporary classical music
IRON ENSEMBLE was founded by Mary Tassouli in order to bring the youth closer to the contemporary classical music.
She did that, by 'changing' modern songs - starting from her beloved Iron Maiden - to classical music, which is based in traditional orchestral arrangements.
''ALEXANDER the GREAT is a masterpiece epic song, full of lyricism and inspired melodies! As I was orchestrating it, I realised that this piece of music consisted of some smaller ones... it was something like a s u i t e, as we call it in classical music, or something like a p r o g r e s s i v e (metal) music... to use the modern term.
The music trip begins with the atmospheric intro. From the first bar already, the melodies are rolling out... the background is sounding pompous, whlie it prepares the second part, which begins with the brilliant main theme of the song. The violin is in charge of the music narration and afterwards all the other instruments are joining (tutti)... to conclude to the third part, in which, if we set our imagination free, we could feel the rhythm which sounds like a gallop and lead us to a pilgrimage to the unknown and mystic places. The ending of this tour is established by the heavy and sceptical grave (=slow and serious music)... and from this point (I call it civilization) starts the enviable and sensuous part of this song (fifth part), which skillfully finishes with the solos, leaving us a sense of high class and elegance.
The finale is majestic and gracious... the main theme is repeated and it is heard more legendary, as it suits to Alexander the Great!!!''
