A few years ago, the musicologist mrs Efi Averof had a discussion with Mary Tassouli about heavy metal music and she thought that it would be interesting to represent this kind of music - for educational reasons - to the Athens Concert Hall.
From that moment Mary Tassouli gave a serious thought of how all this could become true. Showing utmost respect for this orchestra pit, she suggested to five young professional musicians, who took part in classical orchestras and listened to heavy metal music, to join the ensemble and record "Alexander the Great" by Steve Harris (Iron Maiden). She also cooperated with a talented guitarist who made the solo arrangements, to create a finely crafted result.
IRON ENSEMBLE is:
Dimitris Aggelidis (violin)
Vasilis Soukas (violin)
Antilohos Tranos (viola)
Asterios Pouftis (violoncello)
Dimitris Kamarianakis (contrabasso)
Elias Koskoris (guitar, solo arrangements)
Mary Tassouli (harp, piano, orchestration)
